Great for mending too
I've always wondered how often I choose button thread over regular thread for mending. It's a lot stronger but not as thick as you might think. I had a hole in my black bra that needed stitching. Every woman knows that abra repairs have to be strong and I was confused without my button thread. Works great on unbuttoned socks, jean stitching (color doesn't matter as long as it's on the inside) to name a few. Don't let the dirty part of the name fool you. It seems to me that it's two pieces of thread thick, so it doesn't leave a bulky mark.
