Yes, DX only. But so far, Nikon does not have normal options (price-quality) for full-frame cameras. D700 - only 12mp, D3X - costs like a ton of coke. Therefore, I decided not to aim far into the future and decided to buy the D7000. With which 17-55 is like a native :)
By the way, I bought in Korea for 37 thousand. rub. We would not dare to do such a feat :)

Pros

All are already listed. I confirm. The best kit for cropped (DX) matrices.

Cons

When shooting a video, it is very audible how the focus works and clicks on its extreme values. There is a slight play of the rings, but not critical in comparison with analogues.

Its pros: Sharp, with excellent contrast and beautiful bokeh. Fast autofocus. With its cons. Heavy, tight zoom ring, not very comfortable focus ring. Only for crop, will soon have to change to 24-70 / 2.8.
