Patriot 2015. Fit uncut

Some reviews have indicated that the filter does not fit well in the airbox for JK models. Changes have been warned. Based on this, I decided to install my newly arrived filter. I noticed the airbox collar or round mounting pad and the standard filter diameter. about the same, so I'm thinking of giving up the adjustable metal strap. I attached the filter to the box's mounting nipple and noticed that the cover part of the air box has a seat or fins which are the clamping part for the filter. I suppose this is one of the things people might say to cut it off to make it easier to attach, or sand down the rib at the bottom of the box to get a little more clearance. At first I did not try to do anything and tested. On the first try, the lid came no closer than an inch to the edge of the box. I measured the filter and found it tight but should fit. I tilted the lid to get to the closed side of the filter first, then lowered the entire lid. It looked close enough, about half an inch on one side, and with a little tweaking I figured I could get away with it. So I tightened the screws and it worked. Yes, that's right. So I installed this thing and didn't do any operations on the airbox. I think by winter I'll know if a little extra stress on the box will cause a crack. I checked all the edges of the lid and made sure it was sealed. I'm not sure about the performance yet. Seems better at idle. There also seems to be a little more pizzazz.
