HOW TO KEEP KITTY FROM SCRATCHING FURNITURE

Humans couldn't make such perfect furniture for cats. It must have been designed by cat engineers, set up was a breeze. I only tightened one screw to attach the sisal pole. As soon as I did that, my cat attacked the scratching post. She likes the ball on the sisal pole. Much better quality ball than the cheaper scratching post I also bought from Revain. It spins in circles on a metal rod, not just a rope. My cat is small to medium sized to be able to get into the base but this requires her to do yoga moves. She loves the ball in base. That's the only weak point. It hangs on a thin rubber band. I expect it to break like the same ball on the other post. HOW TO PREVENT KITTY FROM SCRATCHING FURNITURE1: Put catnip on the scratching post to get cat's attention2. Wait for the kitten to start scratching the post.3. IMMEDIATELY wave a cat treat that the kitten likes in front of his face and then place it on the post. Repeat this each time the kitten scratches the perch until she associates the scratching with a treat. What helps is teaching the kitten to understand when you are feeding it. or make another sound like a bird or a mouse. Then open the food and feed the kitten. If you make a noise every time before feeding, she will associate the noise with food. You can then teach her to scratch on command by making a noise near the scratching post and giving her a treat after scratching. Cats can be trained, but you must use their natural instincts. Make some noise and then reward them for doing what you want. To stop her from doing something you don't like, hiss like a snake every time she does something bad. Of course you are afraid of this noise. If they don't respond to it at first, combine it with a loud sound. All of the cats I've had have been trained to recognize food noises and hisses. A trained cat is much easier to manage!
