Review on Schwarzkopf Color Ultime Hair Color πŸ”΅ Cream, Sapphire Black 1.4 oz (Packaging May Vary) by Liz Wolfe

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Pretend you're Dexter fixing his room up for a kill and put the plastic in - stuff gets dirty!

I ordered Black Sapphire. I wanted a cool blue shade because although my hair is dark brown to dark brown, it's an auburn hue (thanks Irish ancestors!) that turns coppery red-orange each time the color fades. So I tried to stay away from any red color. Well, it turned purple. Like Very Purple. It came out VERY black and in the sun it gives off a stunning blue hue. BUT, those are stains, folks. If you are an observant, very careful person planning hair coloring and doing plastic surgery, then I recommend you try it. I'm not one of those people, although I've learned to look around and tidy up after dying my hair. I was very careful with this stuff but missed the little patches of paint splattering my sink. My sink is regular sink material, non-porous, not particularly careful. I found the points in ten minutes but it was too late. Now I have two purple dots on the side of my white sink and nothing is cleaning them up and I've tried MANY different things. So I'm going to rinse my hair. Our shower is one of those horrible plastic inserts, so I very carefully rinsed the walls where the purple water was splashing. When I was done I looked down and saw a purple stain on the underside of the liner where the water had pooled, you know how it is, before it went down the drain. I mean the water was running all the time and washing away the paint and it was still stained. It covered all my gray hair and I didn't have any burning, stinging or bad smell issues. I flushed very thoroughly for 20 minutes or more and there was no bleeding after that. However, when I first washed my hair, it was a lot more purple after dying. The color changed from a matte black to a more natural black, but still had a subtle blue cast. I've only had this color for a week so can't comment on how long or how well it lasts, so I can edit my review later and also note how well it stood up to Irish Red. **** First I gave three stars because of the color scheme. After trying another brand of blue-black and getting the exact same stain, I decided I went with the color and not the brand. Another brand (Nutrisse) also had a slight bluish cast, but it didn't cover my gray hair like Schwarzkopf and the bluish cast didn't show. Schwarzkopf also retains its color longer and fades less. I think I've found my brand of hair dye.
