Wow! I've never seen a chain of lights like this before. I went with the white/multi color option and maybe I'm just unfamiliar with the latest electronics but I was pleasantly surprised to learn that these string lights can change from all white light to multi color. So if you turn them on every night, you can choose to use full white or multicolored light. Very cool. The remote also lets you choose from a variety of chase, flash and flicker options and always on. The lights themselves are small, I would call them "fairy lights" but they are LED and very bright. If you want a softer effect you can dim them with the remote control. The memory works if you use the timer function on the remote and have the lights turn off after six hours (instead of turning the lights off) and when the lights turn off for the night, after 18 hours of inactivity, they turn back on automatically with a color/blink setting that you originally installed. The key to making the save feature work (at least for me) is that the timer turns it off, not me, instead of turning it off. The save feature might work differently, but I still think the key is to leave the lights on. It's possible that the memory works if you use the remote to turn it off instead of turning it off, although I haven't tested this. I am happy with using the timer function as it works great for me to keep the light on from 5:30pm to 11:30pm each night. You don't actually set a specific time with the remote, it automatically turns itself off just six hours after turning it on and pressing the timer button on the remote. The remote works, but be aware. It must point to the plug/box area of this light kit. I kept wanting to point it at the lights themselves, but for it to work, point it at the box/plug. The remote is tiny, so I suggest finding a convenient but safe place to keep it so you always know where it is and it doesn't get lost. Weeks, and so far so good, they're working fine. We put them on our covered porch which covers them pretty well but I like that they are waterproof in case it rains or seeps on them when I water the porch plants. Although the bulbs are very small, like typical fairy lights, the cord is more durable than the tiny wires found in most fairy lights. The cable is green to blend in better with plants or Christmas greenery, but remember this is not an ultra-thin cable. I think these wider and stronger cords will hold up better over time, at least I hope so. It seems logical that this is the case. Overall, these lights and their color changing and flashing capabilities are impressive. So far they are working well on our covered porch. highlighted.
