Review on ☕️ Effortless Brewing: Discover the Shine Kitchen Co. Autopour SCH-150 Automatic Pour Over Coffee Machine by Jenn Jones

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great for lazy people like me

I love a great cup of coffee. I've been trying to learn more about different styles of brewing. Pouring seemed such a chore, to get it right (aka true coffee snob): buy a long-necked kettle, heat to exactly 200 degrees, grind and weigh the coffee thoroughly, rinse the filter before use, pour in the water and the coffee soak coffee swells, the rest pours slowly in concentric circles, blah blah blah. Yes, it makes a great cup of coffee, but I don't have time for all of that. This little automatic potting machine allows me to make a nice pot bowl while I'm busy with other things. The scoop measures the correct amount of coffee (although the instructions don't say whether it's to be flat or heaped - I went with a level and it seemed fine). I recommend heating the water to 200 degrees and then making sure to put in the right line. First fill up to the flower line and then leave on for about 45 seconds (I found that worked best). Then carefully pour up to the pour line - don't go over the second mark (which is a little hard to see when rotated out of sight) as the small carafe won't hold as much coffee and excess brewed coffee will go in the filter, causing the affects the taste of your coffee. This machine came with 3 #1 filters which was nice as the filters were not listed as part of the contents and allowed me to brew straight out of the box. It took me the third filtration to get a really good cup of coffee by measuring the water more carefully, letting it steep a little longer and remembering to cover it with a lid to keep the heat and steam out. Don't tell any of my snooty friends about this car for fear they'll shame me over coffee, it'd just be my little secret lol. One thing (didn't affect my star rating) I wanted to mention is that the packaging and machine design is really well done - I love the retro vibe of the faux wood panels on the machine and the Shine logo itself. But I got it made it my task, since I am a designer, to point out bad product photos in my reviews. The box contains a standard photo of a woman eating at the table and feeding some of her food to the dog, and Shine's car is very roughly photoshopped. This clouds my overall impression of the product as it doesn't look professional. I hope they remove this from their packaging.
