This is a well-made scroll wheel that will last. After unpacking, you'll need to slightly spread the levers holding the wheel so the tension doesn't slow the wheel down. If the wheel drifts freely after spinning, it means you have adjusted it correctly. if it's too wide, it will be wobbly. The creaking of all metal wheels is inevitable. To fix this you will need a cotton swab to apply a very thin coat of vegetable oil (olive, sunflower, grapeseed, etc.) to the point where the wheel meets the arms. Just a little goes a long way. For health reasons, DO NOT use toxic chemicals (WD-40, gun oil, etc.). The mouse probably won't eat oil, but you'll need to apply a small amount of oil if the squeaking bothers you. This wheel will outlast generations of micro-tetrapods. Enjoy!
