Updated 12/15/2019. We have now purchased 3 of these sets and each candle has worked and is still working. We also assumed (by reading reviews+ here) that there was no auto-on feature. There is! My wife is very happy with them, especially compared to the cheap dollar stores where you have to manually screw in or unscrew a lightbulb to turn it on or off. on the. The remote control is a bit finicky, and not all candles in the immediate vicinity respond to every command. This is normal as you can usually just press the key you want multiple times until everyone goes into that mode. Maybe I need more practice. Yes, it would be nice if they could have an accurate 24 hour timer that turns on and off automatically at programmed times, and then you need a way to set the current date and time. ++$$$$. They work quite well the way they are. My wife asked me to order another set for her in about 3 minutes. It looks like the candles could easily be removed from the included candle holders and placed in other standard candle holders if desired.
