Review on TOTU Upgraded Universal Charging Extended by Scott Rao

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Works with two LG 27UK850-W 27 " 4K UHD IPS monitors

The 1st edition (not updated) didn't seem to be able to run both monitors at the same time (I couldn't figure it out after one hour cable swap), so I had to plug one of the monitors directly into my Yoga C3906 13IKB (USB C) and the other into my Totu, making a docking station pointless (I now had two cables to connect to my laptop). This is a ( updated) device that controls one monitor via HDMI and the other via a DP cable, which is clearly communicated in the photos in the listing. You can't seem to control both monitors with HDMI, and it seems that various laptops and monitors can't are always compatible with all docking stations so I was happy to find a solution. For about a week I powered my external keyboard via the USB port on the back supplied, and then one day it stopped working. So I'm now charging it using the USB port on the front of the Totu. I mention this because it's a reminder that there's a mix of USB B3.0 and USB2.0 ports and you know the specs need to check to make sure what you're trying to connect matches what's available, and I also suspect the port is feeding The keyboard was overloaded and I didn't check if it was feeding anything at all. This Totu also charges my laptop so I only have one (USB-C) between my laptop and Totu and have multiple devices connected to Totu. Finally I left Totu without updates because I liked the stability. and functionality and I will be using it in my home office where I don't have a separate display but I have many other devices to connect to. The box itself appears to be cast aluminium, it is a very neat and clearly high quality kit. It sticks well to the countertop so it doesn't slip when you plug in/unplug.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
