I bought this dock to use with a MacBook I got for work. It works most of the time, but I'm not very happy with it. Let's start with the positive things. It gives my monitors good quality (they're only 1080p so I can't speak to 4k skills) and allows me to use 3 at a time as well as my laptop's screen; 4 total. I just bought an HP Specter x360 13 inch laptop to replace my old Surface Book (1st gen). I used a Surface Book with a Surface Dock and two external monitors in addition to the SB monitor and it was great. But I also have another monitor waiting to be used (for something other than my Nintendo Switch). UPDATE 16.07. After updating my Mac to version 10.15.6, it said that the DisplayLink extension was no longer allowed. I updated the driver to the latest version to fix this, which it did. HOWEVER, the monitor I connected via Displayport shows up as a mirrored display of my HDMI monitor even though it shows as extended in the system settings. and I definitely did NOT have "mirror display" enabled (enabled and disabled myself to be sure).
