I decided my car should shine this summer so I figured I'd need some tools to get the job done properly. Walking through the auto section of a local super department store (which will remain unnamed) I remembered that Turtle Wax made their own cheap buffer/polisher. As far as I can tell it's the same machine, just with a gray body instead of the green Turtle Wax. In any case, this baby was exactly what I needed. It works like a random orbital sander, not a sander or dremmel. In other words, the ground moves in small vortices instead of rotating on its own like a grinder does. Actual working with the tool takes some practice as you need to apply enough pressure to apply the wax or polish, but too much pressure will cause the pad to stall due to friction. I polished my car in about 20 minutes. It's less than a little over an hour with a rag. Keep in mind that the device comes with 2 covers but you should buy more as they don't last too long. I've gone through two polish applicator hoods on my small car. You will also need an extension cord as you can see in the product photo, the power cord can be 8 inches long. This is done so that you can form a square knot with the extension, eliminating the possibility of accidentally disconnecting the device. Overall I find this polishing machine to be of good quality at a reasonable price.
