Review on Catit Magic Blue: Optimal Air Purification for Your Cat's Litter Box by Nicole Garcia

Revainrating 1 out of 5

I'm not sure if my cat burned out due to a chemical leak from the Blue Magic cartridge.

Since urine smells more in the warmer months, I figured an odor control pad might help. However, when I cleaned the high-sided, top-entry Clevercat shell and looked into the Magic Blue cartridge, I saw under the cap a coating of nutmeg powder beneath the round "Catit" shield - the cartridge was under the cap. Clevercat box lid and thus upside down. It was only later that it dawned on me that there were slits on either side of the Catit nameplate, so the nutmeg powder had to be sifted through the slits onto the bottom of the cartridge. I wasn't concerned until I saw what appeared to be a greasy burn on my cat Sox's back. (Sox is almost nutmeg in color, so I didn't notice any powder on it.) I can't be 100% sure it was the cause of the burn, but there was nothing here (or used here) that could cause such a burn . The box says it only contains charcoal, but obviously there are chemicals in it too - the charcoal isn't nutmeg colored. The mixture must not leak out of the cartridge, neither through the top nor through the holes on all 4 sides of the Magic Blue cartridge. Even with the Clevercat bowl almost closed, I didn't notice any improvement in the smell of urine, although I change the litter every 3-4 days. I was hoping to do this every 5 days!
