Review on πŸŽ₯ Rode VideoMic Camera Mount Shotgun Microphone: Enhanced Audio Quality with Rycote Shock Mount by Ben Titchenell

Revainrating 4 out of 5

This mic is 3 years old and still working

Pros-1. Good audio pickup in quiet environments. The battery lasts 4 all day. Good build quality and RODE customer service is top notch even though my mic is out of warranty. a foam shield is useless, but most mics need a dead cat for field use anyway) I've been using this mic on my DSLR for quite a while. This is a huge upgrade to the camera's built-in microphone. Although it's long, it doesn't appear in the T2i frame. However, I suggest a dead cat. The supplied foam screen almost does not stop wind noise. Some dead cats may stick out of the frame when photographing, so you only need to cut off the bottom. Also, many newbies to photography might mistake this for a pistol mic that you can attach to your camera and expect it to pick up sound at a distance. . It works better than the built-in mic and will definitely limit your sound fields, but there's nothing quite like actually buzzing the mic over your subjects. This mic is difficult to turn on because you can't take it off. Its battery life is also pretty annoying, but the battery lasts all day.

Pros
  • Rugged build
Cons
  • Something's wrong
