It's a small improvement, however.

The sound gets better, but not as much as we'd like. If your subject is about 30 cm away from the microphone, everything is fine. Anything over 2 feet and the sound quality is unacceptable. Is it better than built in? Of course, but the built-in features are so terrible that everything can be improved. That's fine for a family video and the like, but why spend money on it? A preamp will likely help you upgrade your microphone, or better yet, get a separate audio recorder.

FANTASTIC LITTLE MIC FOR RECORDING

This mic is fantastic for the price! I currently shoot with either a Sony Handicam or Canon and the mic works well in both settings and attaches easily to cameras. The microphone does a great job of isolating noise and canceling out background noise. Again, this is a smaller, more compact version, but it packs quite a punch. I've created some really exciting soundbites to use with recording my experimental footage - I'm also very happy with the use of the mic for sound recording/output. It's…

LOVE IT! Great build and sound!

I have bought several RODE microphones and have always been impressed! They make a great product that will last a long time. I recently bought a DSLR and was looking for a great gun mic for it so I bought this one. Look no further than this gun microphone! Pros: - Excellent sound quality - Connects well to a DSLR camera - 9V battery ALWAYS lasts! I accidentally left it on overnight (12 hours until I found out) and it still had hours and hours of life left! - The battery produces better sound…

Very good microphone: Microphones and accessories

I bought this microphone after a long search. I own a multimedia communications company and shoot a video weekly for our client's website. My Sony camcorder's mic just couldn't handle it. I needed something that could record the subject's voice without canceling out ambient background noise. This mic does just that. I've used it both indoors in a controlled environment and outdoors during a live concert - and it worked great. I have no cons to list because it's everything I expected from it…

Not worth the price. Rather spend a little more for something better.

I've had this mic since late 2016 and have had to have it repaired under warranty twice since then. This after using it in less than 10 projects. The first time it was a faulty power switch and the second time it was a broken wire. I use this microphone with my Canon EOS Rebel T6i DSLR. This mic generates quite a bit of static electricity (which can easily be removed in editing software). It attaches well to the top of my camera, but the connection can come loose if you're not careful. Many…

Good mic as db function

I bought this mic specifically for db function. I enter my daughter in cheerleading competitions. I don't know if you were at the cheerleading competition, but the music is LOUD and distorted. I have this microphone on a Sony Handycam FDR-AX53. The ability to lower the dB allows me to post videos directly to YouTube without feeling the need to edit the audio. Something I have not dared to do before. I'm not a pro and I do it as a hobby, but even I hate it when you start watching a video and the

This mic is 3 years old and still working

Pros-1. Good audio pickup in quiet environments. The battery lasts 4 all day. Good build quality and RODE customer service is top notch even though my mic is out of warranty. a foam shield is useless, but most mics need a dead cat for field use anyway) I've been using this mic on my DSLR for quite a while. This is a huge upgrade to the camera's built-in microphone. Although it's long, it doesn't appear in the T2i frame. However, I suggest a dead cat. The supplied foam screen almost does not…

Dirty sound, cheap plastic, almost inaccessible DIP switches.

Very disappointed with the sound quality. Other reviewers who called it "dirty" were right. I have a Tascam DR-05 version 2 digital recorder that I paid $80 new for at Revain and the pair of built in mics sound much better and there are 2 of them. I wasn't expecting a pencil capacitor. The DIP switches for setting the pad are very tiny - I couldn't see them without magnification - and very difficult to reach even with the battery removed and with a jeweler's screwdriver due to their position…

Just super, the product is made wonderfully, very satisfied.

I don’t write product reviews very often, but below is my review on Rode VideoMic Shotgun Microphone Shockmount. The most important thing when buying this microphone is not to fall for a fake of which there are a lot now, by the way, here in the photo in the table of contents is just not the original microphone box from a fake on which there is no bar code, keep this in mind ! how to identify a fake, look on the net.

Pros
  • The high-quality sound at the output, unlike the battle mm1, the difference is strongly felt in the battle, the background noise is very catchy, it is much cleaner and most importantly, the microphone has excellent wind protection, the battle has absolutely none, you can say it is not
Cons
  • This is a trifle, of course, but the windscreen is not quite tightly attached to the microphone, but this is not critical, you can ignore this fact
