Because there are so many different versions of this remote that you can't even be sure which one you're getting. I first bought the Favi version two years ago and it has been my favorite mini. The range is sufficient and the backlight is indispensable. The power button broke when I dropped it - still works well but when the battery dies it starts to get annoying and has to be reset by toggling it off and on. I tried replacing it and now I have three more of these, plus a Logitech diNovo mini keyboard, a Unisen iPazzPort KP-810-18R wireless keyboard, and a touchpad with Google-compatible 2.4G RF learning Infrared (IR) Remote Control TV . . iPazzPort is very similar to the Rii and Favi, but also includes a programmable IR remote control. Logitech is sleek and powerful, but it also has its downsides, most notably the price. Why do I need 3 more of these? Each of them was listed with a picture of an identical remote control, but in reality they were all slightly different. Differences are immediately visible through the icon on the button in the upper left corner. Favi had a lightbulb like the picture in this Rii listing. The first Rii I got was exactly the same, but unfortunately the backlight didn't work. Due to the high price, it is hardly worth paying the shipping for the return. I then bought another Favi with the same image but the one I received had the Bluetooth icon on the top left button. The range of this device was ridiculous, you can also connect a wired keyboard. So I bought another Rii from another site, again with a picture of a lightbulb on the top left button. This one appeared with a red laser dot icon on the top left button and constantly loses connection with the receiver and has to be cycled off and on again. I suggest that you contact the seller before you buy and see if they can tell you which version you're getting. The one with the white light on the top left button seems to work the best. Maybe just buy the iPazzPort KP-810, the layout is almost identical and the IR function is handy for turning on the TV and receiver. Advantages: backlight, RF button, prize, laser pointer to play with the cat during the courtship. Cons: Layout - Multimedia keys require pressing the Fn key at the same time, which is easy to fix by installing Keytweak on PC. Has anyone used F1 - F12 since DOS? The mouse buttons should be on the left side. The click and drag is very uncomfortable. I cannot disable the touchpad touch function. Extremely annoying! Touchpad drivers are not available, so there are no options in the Control Panel. The RF button isn't described in a typical Chinese manual (if you get one).
