Overall this scratching post is quite well made and attractive. It's also fairly easy to assemble, but you'll need a magnifying glass to read the instructions (graphics for attachment types are sparse). However, I wish I would give reviews more weight that it's small because it is. My cat is about 9 pounds and she is second from the top on the shelf. It is too tall for the top circular shelf and leaps from there create noticeable swaying of the entire climber. She likes vertical cat trees and a cube. Another reviewer commented that the shelf layout was too steep and now I see what he meant. The rectangular shelf spans about half the cube, with little to no horizontal jump (think staircase with steep risers and narrow steps). This may not be a disadvantage for cats that like to climb poles, but my cat doesn't seem to like it. Now I'm looking for a way to add to the device to make it easier for her to get to the shelves.
