Pros: Compact design, great picture quality, easy TV connection, easy computer connection, accurate, vivid colors, great sound/audio, ergonomic/comfortable, simple to use, good low light performance. Cons: Short battery life, remote control can be a little fiddly as it doesn't work from any angle, Full HD cable not included (mini HDMI cable sold separately). We just had a baby and wanted to buy a high quality HD camera. I've used video from the camera at home and outdoors and everything has turned out great. The videos look great on my computer and/or 52" HDTV. I'm still fiddling with the settings but so far this camera has worked great for us. The camera also has an SD card slot, so although the camera has an internal hard disk drive (HDD), I recommend purchasing a high capacity SD card (HCSD). I bought a 16GB card. An SD card makes it much easier to take photos and videos at the same time, and it is much easier to transfer videos to a computer using an SD card. Cards. Simply take out the card and insert it into your PC's card reader/slot. No wires required. For shorter videos (90 minutes at maximum quality) the SD card has enough capacity for me. For longer videos or when the SD card is full, you can switch back to the hard drive. Although the transfer speed can be noticeably slower when transferring videos and photos from the card compared to a USB cable. This can also depend on the battery life of your computer, which is not impressive. If you are planning to be away for a long period of time, this may not be a good thing. rth buy an optional Standard or Extended Life battery. However, based on the various reviews I've read, battery life is an issue with most high-end cameras, so it wasn't a big deal for me. So far, just having one battery hasn't been a problem as long as I check it's charged before leaving the house. The lack of a viewfinder can be frustrating at times, especially when shooting at fast targets (like in sports). but the pivoting screen has served me well so far. In fact, some of my best shots are with the screen facing my daughter when she's in the frame. She loves to see herself. I also sometimes use it this way when I have my camera on a tripod to make sure what I'm shooting (usually playing with my daughter) is still in frame. As mentioned above, this camera does not come with an HDMI cable, which is required to display Full HD video on an HDTV (1080p). I would suggest buying a cable when/if you get the camera. This is probably true for all HD camcorders. I also buy mine from Revain (Tripp Lite Mini HDMI to HDMI (6ft) cable) and it works great. in full HD. I downgraded the video to fit on a standard DVD and the picture quality has degraded greatly. I will never do that again. I also bought a Blu-ray burner from Revain (LG GGW-H20L Super Multi Blue - Blu-ray burner / HD DVD-ROM drive with Lightscribe - 6x2x6x/3x - Serial ATA - internal - 5.25").
