This is a compact, very strong and beautiful shelf! Can be used with or without the small basket. Keep in mind that when assembled it stands about 4.5ft which is perfect for me as I'm only 4'11 so I love the fact that I can easily reach the top shelf, decorate and see, what is there without making an effort. Neck. It's very strong and durable, much more than it looks! The finish is amazing and was pretty easy to put together, just don't tighten all the screws until each shelf is in place and then tighten when you're done, switching from side to side. top left bottom right and so on. much easier overall AND it won't be uneven. This type of furniture really isn't meant to be screwed in and out all the time as everything is pre-drilled so it's best if you get it right the first time so the holes don't get mixed up.
