After using my original Xbox One Elite controller for a long time. I think a year and a half or so. My grips started to separate from the controller, not on the inside, but on the back outside. The ones you can remove to start disassembling the controller. Not that I've ever done that with my Elite, but I've done it over 15 times with horrible, low-quality crap controllers that Xbox somehow found acceptable to sell to their gullible customers. Seriously after I either broke the toggle buttons or the thumbsticks came loose for no reason or the controllers started phantom drifting or I think I squeezed them hard and the plastic sleeve around them detached and shifted slightly when I held them (enough to really bother me) on 2 replacement Xbox branded controllers (you wouldn't believe they were that cheap considering they cost 70.00). I've had to resort to buying 3rd party brands from Gamestop (like powerA and the like etc), getting a one year warranty, and months of returning and replacing them over and over again. To be honest, PowerA makes an amazing high-end, elite-level controller that's about half the price of Xbox Elite or Elite2, called the PowerA Fusion Pro Controller if you don't care about the wired aspect . Amazingly great controller, can't believe it's from PowerA. Anyway, yes the interchangeable grips worked great, only downside was you can feel where the new grip begins and the old one. Depending on how aggressive you are with your controller. I don't mistreat them, don't drop them or anything, but in a hot game of DOA6 or Forza Horizon 3 (not 4) and especially Fortnite I can grab them pretty hard so there's a lot of info that totally deviated from course, but this is an overview.
