I wanted this to be a bargain. There were no complaints at first but I had serious concerns when I placed the blade on the base and brownish oil seeped around the shaft and formed small liquid brown spots on the top of the blade cover. This happened several times to one of the blades. My husband noticed some of these in his drink. I thought maybe the juice got down the duct but for me it's still a big NO. Same scenario after testing with a water in a cup. There was also a burning smell coming from the blade. The blender base didn't smell at all. I finally gave up and decided to throw this item away. I cannot harm my family by putting a vile slime in their cocktails. I think I should have ordered from the manufacturer rather than looking for a cheaper alternative. I just order the real deal now. This may be an isolated case, but as of this writing, buying or even getting a free replacement isn't worth the risk.
