- Nose hairs bother me a lot, so I use them when I go hiking for a long time and don't have electricity. They are really different from the electric version and take some getting used to. Each push rotates the blades forward 1/4 turn and back 1/4 turn. I was hoping it was spring loaded and would rotate a little, although they aren't designed that way. It's smooth, the slits are about 1/16 inch from the skin on the sides and top. The hair-thin slits you can slide into are narrower than competing brands. It catches longer, tougher hairs, but finer hairs appear to be pushed aside and not caught by the blade system.
