Bad quality control.
The height of the base is different from the original part and the spacing between the bolt holes is different, requiring flexing and prying to adjust. And no, the car has never been in an accident so a quality part like a "factory" part would fit perfectly, just like the original I took off. Also, the top of the rubber part of the mount is much smaller in diameter than the original part, hopefully it will hold up.
