HDMI cable with high quality image update for low resolution gaming

10/15/2017 - tested for 4 days 12/20/2017 - see update at the end scaled and applies anti-aliasing. Performance - 5 stars. Initially low-res games will be upscaled to 1080p. I checked again and both 480p and 720p sources are scaled correctly. The applied anti-aliasing filter is pretty good. This does not result in blurry or blurry images like some AA methods do. The text is as legible as ever. No delays found. The lower the native resolution, the greater the benefit, so you'll see more benefit in older games like PS1-3 games than in current PS4 games. Games with 2D sprites also apply an anti-aliasing filter. The effect is subtle and doesn't blur the image. Compatibility - 5 stars Works with every console I've tried. I've tested it on PS3, PS4, ONE S and Wii with HDMI adapter with no issues. I've tested it with PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, 360, ONE, NES, SNES and Wii games and the scaling and anti-aliasing work well. I've tested it on a regular Sharp Full HD TV and an AOC Ultra Wide PC monitor with no issues. Ease of use - 4 stars. You must connect the correct end to the source and TV/monitor. A USB cable is required for power, and each console's USB port provides adequate power. Images display just as quickly with a regular HDMI cable, so there's no time to load. There are no settings and no start menu - it works like a regular cable. Docked star for sometimes not displayed images. This usually happens when the console changes resolution, e.g. B. when downloading a PS1 game. Reconnecting the USB cable restores the image. Reconnecting the HDMI cable does not work. Compared to a regular HDMI cable (using the Xbox-supplied HDMI cable), there isn't a significant advantage for 1080p gaming. Perhaps a very slight sharpening effect, but very subtle. For gaming 720p - Excellent. This is probably where I found the greatest benefit. Images are sharper and almost look like they were originally encoded in 1080p. The biggest benefit is that flicker and jaggies are reduced when the image is moving. It's good for 240p and 480p games. Models and textures are smoothed. Not much use since the source material is so blocky. Good for 2D games. Nice pixel smoothing without being intrusive. My Opinion - Great cable for non-1080p console games. This includes all older games and possibly the current Switch, although I don't have any to test. I found PS3 games to be much more enjoyable to play. Probably not in PC games. While this will work, it's probably better if you upgrade your graphics card. See attached photos for examples. All photos were taken with an iPhone as I don't have an HDMI screen capture device. HDMI = normal HDMI cable. mCable = the cable in question. Update 12/20/2017 My opinion after 2 months of use. I've only used it on Full HD monitors and TVs, not 4K. Pros: I still find the upscaling to non-HD sources very good. Specific games where this has made a difference are Battlefield Bad Company on PS3 and Metroid Prime Trilogy on Wii. Cons - I downgraded it to 4 stars for several reasons. 1) It doesn't work with interlaced sources. I discovered this when trying to use it with a PS2 with an HDMI converter. PS2 games are almost all 480i and I couldn't figure out why there wasn't any upscaling. I finally found this in the troubleshooting FAQ on their website, but they should state this clearly on their product information page. 2) It turns off regularly when the signal changes. This has happened frequently on PS3 and requires plugging or unplugging the USB3 power cable.) I've found two monitors where the cable just won't work. These are standard HP computer monitors. For a premium cable at this price point, these flaws need to be addressed. I'm still happy with pictures when it actually works. But limitations and shortcomings reduced the value of the product.
