Doesn't work with Visio TV USB

I wanted to watch TV with Bluetooth headphones and the description sounded like it would work. My Visio TV has a USB port but no 3.5mm jack. I tried using an RCA connection with a 3.5mm jack adapter but it did NOT work. I could see the red light for TX pairing go from blinking to solid and I could hear the pairing tone in my headphones but there was no sound.
