Of the ones I've used, about 1/2 have enough adhesion to stay, others just fall off. I have a USB extension cable on my new desk. I have 3 of these and 2 keep falling off. I move them, replace them, wipe the surface, one stays, the other falls off. I've also used them to route cables on my guitar pedal board, they hold up great. Others worked great at my wife's desk, on the TV, but again it's hit and miss. Some stick, some fall off after a few minutes.
