Of the ones I've used, about 1/2 have enough adhesion to stay, others just fall off. I have a USB extension cable on my new desk. I have 3 of these and 2 keep falling off. I move them, replace them, wipe the surface, one stays, the other falls off. I've also used them to route cables on my guitar pedal board, they hold up great. Others worked great at my wife's desk, on the TV, but again it's hit and miss. Some stick, some fall off after a few minutes.

They won't win beauty pageants and they're not meant to be reused endlessly, but they work. The glue is ridiculously sticky, so they'll stick to pretty much every flat surface I've tried them on (including some textured surfaces like wood). Bought 200 pieces of large clips. The large clamps have enough strength to easily clamp an external 16 gauge power cord. The adhesive reminds me of 3M VHB, although the labels aren't visible and it's not listed in the product description. It is not a thick layer of adhesive, so the possibility of filling gaps is minimal, which is why the description refers to "smooth" clean surfaces.
