Sticky and effective

Bought 200 pieces of large clips. The large clamps have enough strength to easily clamp an external 16 gauge power cord. The adhesive reminds me of 3M VHB, although the labels aren't visible and it's not listed in the product description. It is not a thick layer of adhesive, so the possibility of filling gaps is minimal, which is why the description refers to "smooth" clean surfaces. I needed a temporary solution to hang LED lights around my covered patio and they delivered. The surfaces I attached the clips to were smooth aluminum and lightly ribbed aluminum. I wiped the spots with 90% alcohol. My project lasted 2 days. The first day the temperature was about 50 F. I used about 60 clamps and hung the light/power cord on the trail. The clamps easily withstood the weight of the lights immediately after installation. The next day the temperature dropped to no more than 34 degrees Fahrenheit. The show had to go on, but I knew the clips wouldn't hold up in these temperatures without help. I wiped the spot again with alcohol, then used a hair dryer to heat both the surface and the adhesive pad on the clips. Once again the clamps were used to hold the power cord/lamp in place immediately with no issues. The next day it was 17 degrees Fahrenheit and all the clamps and lights stayed where I put them. I placed some clips in the wrong place and had to remove them. They didn't move until they used the heat gun, and even then they wouldn't let go. Whatever the weather, I'm confident the clips will stay in place until I decide to take them off.
