(Will never be without it again BUT) Absolutely not
for cleaning the mop head. They just have to be used up, all gray and cracked. It's a bit rough, but that's the nature of melamine sponge. As for the usefulness of it? It's decent on the ground, although it didn't stand up to the black scuffs. However, it is a revelation on the doors of my pantry. I have a 12 foot ceiling and the doors go all the way up where they collect grease and dirt from everyday cooking. The mop did a great job, no ladder required.
