Broke seconds after opening

I bought this box and as soon as I took it out I tried to close it. I didn't realize that you have to put the batteries in before you close it, otherwise it's impossible to open it, so I had to break it within seconds of taking it out of the box to open it. What a waste! You'd think there was a warning written on the lid, but no, not a warning. You could have put the batteries in before shipping the item to prevent this, but no, that's not the case either. What a waste of $40.
