It catches 99% of the dirt stuck to my cat's paws! All I need to clean is the carpet itself, which is easy to clean even in a small bathroom with shelves. My cat sometimes pees on the mat to show us when she's unhappy or worried (better than using our clothes to show it). Easy to clean, does not absorb the smell of urine and feces. I also have another one that my sister in law bought for my adopted kittens. This works really well in my cat nursery and reduces vacuuming and waste. In the last 6 months I have found that I use significantly less bedding because I can just toss discarded or discarded ones in the bowl. I'm also able to spend more time with my adopted pets now as I have less bedding to clean up (less bedding means bedding gets wet when kittens knock over their water bowl, play in it, throw water around and then play with the tray). I also work at an animal shelter and we use similar products that work well too, but not many have deep pockets like this that pick up litter. It seems to pick up more litter than others because of the pockets, not the "spiky" rubber mats designed to knock dirt out of their paws.
