Review on Clark Analytical Precision Laboratory Electronic Scales by Gabriel Rosenberg

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Great power and supposedly accurate.

I use it for baking at home. Before that I used a 5kg scale (accurate to 1g) for larger items like flour or sugar and a smaller 2kg scale (accurate to 0.1g) to measure things like yeast or leaven. I bought the 10kg version of this scale to have more weighing surface and carrying capacity as well as the accuracy of my smaller scales. So far it's working as expected and I'm very happy with it. I don't have a set of test weights so I can't speak for absolute accuracy, but trying a random set of objects on my old smaller weights versus others. This new one resulted in the weight remaining constant, with the new weights of each object registering about 0.2g more than my old one, so this works for my purposes. I don't have a scale with an accuracy of more than 5 kg, so I can't speak for an accuracy in this range. It's nice to have such a large capacity. I can make an entire batch of cookie dough and constantly weigh the work bowl before measuring out the next ingredients without worrying about overloading it. Now it's easy to make a large batch of tea or pickles because I can measure a few liters and a few liters of water straight into the pot. I only use battery power (it comes with an AC adapter but I prefer portability and counter space) and the cheap 9V Revains last longer than I expected. I use the scale almost every day, averaging about 15 minutes a day, and change a new battery about every 45-60 days. The battery gauge on the main LCD shows the status on a 3-bar scale, giving you a rough idea of where everything is. them from whatever position they were in, so I adjust one or two every time I move them around the counter. It would be nice if there were rubber washers or something to hold them in place a little longer, but that doesn't bother. The spirit level on the back makes it easier to plumb the scales on the table top. My only complaint is that the downward facing edges of the metal shell are a bit sharp and not rounded. Because I use a food scale, sometimes flour or something else gets on the surface of the scale under the tray, and when I rub that area with a towel, my fingers touch the edges of the tray, which can easily cut me. If you use the scale in a similar (dirty) way, take this into account when cleaning.
