Review on SITERWELL 10 Year Photoelectric Battery GS526A by Curtis Sherman

Revainrating 5 out of 5

tiny compared to my last ones

I have no complaints about that of course there was no fire either lol. I love the 10 year old battery, one of mankind's greatest inventions, it's very small compared to all the others I've had over the years. This was a real problem and it took a bit of work. My house had a built in smoke detector that covered a large hole in the drywall. Over the years, all other detectors have been the same size, so while I stopped using wires, I didn't have to repair the hole. This one is so small that it showed most of the hole. I had to replace it with a larger one that was in another part of the house to plug the hole. This was annoying as that particular location is hard to get to and I was dying to have a 10 year battery in that location and of course I have a regular battery now. One thing should be noted. flashes red every 40 seconds to let you know it's working. That alarmed me. I didn't want to see a red flash every minute of my life, especially at night. But I didn't notice it at all. It's installed under the ceiling above the window, so it's not visible, and I don't see the flash even at night. Also, the instructions talk about all the different flashing patterns/alerts it has. 10 seconds versus 40 seconds means one thing or the other. As you can see, I've already forgotten about it, and I only had it for a few days. I'll never remember what all those flashes mean going forward. They're written on the back, but you have to take them off (which defeats the purpose of a 10-year battery) and use a magnifying glass to read them.

Pros
  • good product for the price
Cons
  • poorly thought out
