Well made with quality materials, compact/small footprint, cold shoe or 1/4-20 thread up or down possible. Downgraded to 4 stars for 2 reasons, 1). The ball cocking knob is directly opposite the groove, allowing you to lay the accessory horizontally (at a 90 degree angle). Because my monitor is mounted on a top handle, the handle must line up with the handle (rather than the side), making it difficult to grab and tighten the handle. You can adjust the handle to get a better grip, but it would still be better (at least for my purposes) if the handle was at a 90 degree angle to the groove, and 2). The ball is not pulled up to the block point. It's firm enough to hold the accessory in place, but if you apply a little pressure, the pen slips off. This may actually be a desirable feature (being able to change angles without loosening the knob), but I'm afraid it will weaken over time and eventually fail. And the description says it offers a "tight closure." Instead, I'd say it pushes hard, but not quite. that it can become looser over time and eventually fail.
