I have 2 of these. One for the two year old BMW and one for the new Lincoln Corsair. The battery of a 2-year-old key is already quite weak, as the radio signal is completely blocked when the housing is completely closed. The new key signal is partially attenuated and the signal is not output over a long distance. When the case is fully closed, the signal will be picked up from the vehicle at a distance of approximately 12-15 feet. For the price, they're better than no protection at all.
