I wish I knew about this before I use half a bottle. The instructions don't mention this. To see how much I had left, I had to look inside the chilled bottle with a flashlight. Then I noticed a clear liquid over the yellow spot at the very bottom. I suspect the yellow color is fat that has separated from the rest of the ingredients since it was refrigerated. I contacted Nordic Naturals, they were very responsive and they said shake it and you'll be fine. I wasn't comfortable with half a bottle the first time because there would probably be more fat with each dose. I decided not to use the rest of the bottle and moved on and bought another bottle and will now make sure I shake the chilled bottle every time I use it. My cats really need this to fight dandruff.
