It seems durable and well built except where the metal meets the upper black part. It looks like some kind of epoxy that won't stand up to salt water. I use it in freshwater so should a little bit be enough? But I have it on the heating controller. "Inkbird C929A Wi-Fi Dual Sensor 1200W Aquarium Temperature Controller" I really don't trust the included controller as others have failed, but it heats the water just fine. I probably wouldn't use it without a dedicated heater controller. I'll update when I'm fed up. Edit: It's been about 5 months and it's still working. Heater 240 by itself and seems to be doing a good job. edit to edit lol: Well I didn't care but the temp is wrong now. The tank is 69 degrees and the controller reads 75 degrees, that's not a problem for me since I'm using the controller, so I just set the heater to 86 and the controller turns it on and off.
