Review on Against Grain Pet Food Aubergine by Doris Allen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great food but not for cats with sensitive gums

Overall, this is one of the best commercial cat foods on the market. It's expensive (last I read that pet food has a 300% markup), but not as expensive as Tiki Cat. My only problem is that my 3 year old ragdoll can't take it. He actually likes food, but she doesn't like him. He vomited every day. Not immediately, which would indicate eating too quickly. It took me a long time to figure out what it was. I strongly suspect that it is guar gum. Guar gum and/or xanthan gum are added to most canned cat foods as a thickening agent. While many cats don't have a problem with that, I do.
