For electronic drums. I wanted an overhead monitor. I also bought some memory foam replacement tips and tried different sets until I felt comfortable and the hiss/bass was perfect. After a quick listen I found they sounded pretty flat out of the box. I compared them to a set of Sennheiser training headphones with adjustable headbands. I thought they sounded pretty good. But a quick comparison and they have a really good soundstage overall. The bass isn't phenomenal, in fact if you crank the bass up a bit on the EQ and not too loud it will start to distort the typical metal listening experience. They have a fairly dense, specific bass and aren't so boomy when they're mixed. I'd say I set the EQ to be fairly flat in the mids, slightly higher and curved towards the highs, and just above the mids in the bass. So a really smooth V-shaped pattern with the bass just above mid, the mid almost neutral and the highs ramping up and then flattening out to 12-16k. The memory foam tips work very well to better fit the eardrum. If you're like me, you may have different sized canals. This way the memory foam eartips fit snugly on both ears evenly, providing a good soundstage, spatial clarity and overall good sound. Don't expect monitors to be $400. But for something like electronic drums they're working well so far, and at this price point with 6 drivers per ear (which seems a bit excessive) the slightly cheaper CC10s might be what you're looking for. These, along with a few others, come first. The only downside seems to be that it's almost $100 more expensive for the C16 if you want to take the model higher. What, you get $150 better? There may be other options/brands that offer better sound. I can't compare them to concentration camps because I don't have them. But I believe other reviews that each has their own sound and for the money they are pretty good. The overall construction and looks are pretty good too. It also has a plastic grommet from the headphone jack about 3 inches to give your ear more comfort when going over the top/back, a simple and smart idea. There's nothing special about the cable, it's likely to get tangled like most and it's only 3ft long so get an extended 3mm cable, I have 15ft cable connections with fabric webbing, it's really nice and works Great. It's also possible to find some sort of clip when you hang it on your back to help the connection so it doesn't pull on your ears to keep the cord on your back/waist. Probably the only real complaint other than the bass, which distorts.
