Review on πŸ”ͺ Left-Handed Martelli Ergo 2000 60mm Rotary Cutter by Barbara Simmons

Revainrating 3 out of 5

The edge of the blade breaks off very easily! Expensive replacement blades if you go with Martelli. Otherwise, all the hype is true.

My main issue with these cutting knives is the blade. The blades are superbly sharp and capable of cutting through more layers of tissue, according to Martelli, but they are SO EASY TO BREAK! I don't use my cutting knife excessively and I have a cutting mat in good condition, but I'm relatively new to quilting and sometimes manage to catch the ruler when I put the cutting blade down. Not much just cleaning, the ruler has no damage but the edges of the blades just break off like they are glass rendering the blade unusable. And the blades are expensive! The ergonomics are great and I find that using this cutter is less tiring than any other I've tried. I like being able to cut on both sides of the fabric so I needed a right handed and a left handed model. Keep this in mind as they are not universal. You need two if you want to cut with both hands. It would be nice and probably more profitable for them and us if they made them with a handle that could be unscrewed and moved to the other side.
