The tag on the bag indicated that the paint might come off the clothes if they got wet from rain or sweat but luckily I did not experienced. When unzipped, the reinforced opening stays open (and not as flexible as school backpacks) allowing items to easily fit inside. It costs like a paper bag. It has many internal pockets of different sizes: iPad, passport, internal zippered pocket for small items, as well as side glasses pockets and a USB port. If you travel light, you could probably use it as a holdall. I had trouble putting a water bottle in the outer side pockets because I think they are meant for the water bottles you buy in suitcases from the grocery store and not the Rubbermaid or Hydroflask types.
