I bought this monitor at a very good price and over time I understood why. The feature set is excellent for a budget monitor thanks to the tried and true (and sometimes lacking) name. I know people who work at HP and I have a lot of respect for them. This monitor is not so much. Unlike my other monitors, it loses sync when the PC wakes up 25% of the time, and if you turn it off and on again, it recovers. I've tried drivers, different graphics cards, different connectors on graphics cards, and even different computers - and this problem occurs everywhere. It looks dim next to my "motherboard brand" brand monitor. After much fine-tuning, it still lacks brightness, color accuracy and contrast. Physically it looks pretty good, so it would be a good choice if you don't have to work all the time. If it worked reliably it would be worth a good retail price and this could be a problem unique to this monitor. All of this is to say that if it were reliable (yes, I repeat) it would be fine for a "grandmother" computer, but not for someone who has multiple computers and can say that this is the most underperforming monitor of all is.
