Let me start by saying that I live in Arizona so we don't get harsh winters but we still get pretty cold. This hat probably won't stand up to freezing temperatures, but is definitely suitable for a moderately mild winter. The hat is well made, especially considering the affordable price, and looks as modern as a hat of this type can go without being too chunky. don't think you can throw this item in the washing machine. If you must bathe, do so in a sink or tub with cold water and mild soap, rinse well and wring out excess water with towels, then stuff with newspaper and leave for at least a couple of days standing so that the water can evaporate completely.
