Just realized I've been buying this cat food for 8 years now. Time for a review! Why 8 years with the same brand? Many years ago my cat died of gum disease. The infection he got in his teeth was damaging his organs and there was nothing we could do. After some research, we made sure our regular vet visits included dental health, and we settled on a grain-free diet. Grain free food is much more expensive and we always had 3 cats in the house. We're on a budget so it was a commitment. I've tried several brands throughout the year. Our criteria were no seafood, good price, reasonable ingredients and of course the cats have to want to eat it. When I came to Dave's, I found that the price was pretty cheap but the ingredients were on par with several competing brands. The cat (all three! Boulder is picky sometimes!) liked her very much. I kept ordering. Over the years I've occasionally encountered jars with an inconsistent texture or large chunks of chicken. For me it was never a quality problem. I kind of like that I can see that this meal is made from real food and not outright pasta. I've noticed that the price has increased quite a bit over time, so I carefully researched the price per ounce for this and a few other brands I've tried and loved. This is still the lowest price per ounce. If I only cared about the cost I could get much cheaper cat food, but I also care about the ingredients! If I were rich, I could use one of the other brands with handy shrink-wrapped small portions. For someone like me who insists on excellent pet care but needs a penny, this is a great product and I'm glad to have access to it.
