Review on 8TB BUFFALO DriveStation Quad - High-performance Desktop DAS with 4 Drives by Heath Cullinan
16TB is only 10.9TB of usable RAID5 space. For real?
I am rating this product based on the responses I am getting from people in Buffalo. So my 16TB box configured for RAID5 needs to use 1 drive (4TB) for the party for fault tolerance. However, after configuring this array to RAID5 in Windows 10, the total available disk space reported by Windows is only 10.9 TB. I was not expecting that. I was expecting around 12TB. Can someone tell me what's going on here? Seems like the place is missing somewhere. is it windows or buffalo?
