Review on Sony WI1000X/B: Black Wireless Behind-Neck In-Ear Headphones with Premium Noise Cancelling by Akemi Akio ᠌

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I am amazed at how well the product is made, just magically!

First of all, a product that combines in-ear form factor, hybrid audio system (armature + dynamic), wireless connection, noise reduction and a full range of codecs (incl. AptX HD and LDAC) is unique in the market. The rest of the in-ear headphones are deprived of one or another property: they are either wired, or they contain only a dynamic driver, there is no noise reduction, etc. Scope of application: in winter, under a hat, when you can’t pull on full-size headphones, and you don’t want to get confused with wires. By sound. There is a slight bias towards the articulation of high frequencies. Speech, voice and parts of high-frequency instruments, traditionally for armature drivers, will be written out perfectly. But below the fullness is not enough. This is a traditional problem for many hybrid drivers. However, many manufacturers, even such as Xiaomi, have managed to solve this problem. Not to mention such giants as AKG or Phonak. There is a caveat that the problem was solved only for wired headphones. And, of course, this is a problem only for HiFi class equipment. They clamped the rocker to rewind tracks, although there is plenty of space on the bow. Tracks can be switched by repeatedly clicking on "Play". The quality of performance, traditionally for Sony, is very high. And just as traditionally for Sony, they can't deliver a design that's premium enough for the price. Solid, yes. But not premium. Now ears for over 10,000. should look different. PS. Someone here complained about poor noise cancellation. I think it's something else. The headphones have the function of adaptive noise reduction control. She forcibly throws the noise canceler into the ambient sound mode when it considers that for the owner at the moment its safety is more important than noise cancellation. For example, in the subway. Why external sounds begin to be broadcast through the microphone into the ear. By default, the adaptive control feature is enabled. Therefore, it must be disabled in the Sony Headphones application. PS2. Support for AptX and LDAC in top Samsung smart phones is enabled through the developer options.

Pros
  • Combination of in-ear headphones with hybrid drivers, wireless technology, noise reduction and modern codecs.
Cons
  • A slight distortion of the sound picture towards the articulation of high frequencies. No dedicated rewind keys. Not premium enough. The wires are tanned in the cold, which is why the headphones fall out when you turn your head. I did not expect such a childish miscalculation from Sony ( * PS3. It should be in the comment, but it doesn't fit there anymore. The kit comes with foam ear pads (except for a set of conventional silicone ones). But it's not the kind of foam that needs to be crumpled a bit and it will take on the shape of the ear canal that HiFi in-ear headphones users have thought of. A resilient porous material of the type from which tourist rugs and stuffing for upholstered furniture are made.
