This radio has high sensitivity (ability to receive transmitters) and selectivity (ability to reject unwanted transmitters). I find the sound very good. Very good radio for the price. UPDATE: I recently compared this Tivdio V117 to Tecsun 310. V117 is 20.00 and Tecsun 310 is about 50.00. Tivdio goes well with Tecsun. This test was conducted by comparing the number of channels received on AM and FM. This happened between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. PST at the Colorado border. Tivdio received AM=26 stations, FM=56 stations. Tecsun received AM=26 stations, FM=52 stations. I did not test shortwave because the coverage of each radio frequency is different. Tecsun radios have published sensitivity values for all bands. I can conclude that the Tividio's sensitivity values are quite close to Tecsun's. On FM it's slightly better than Tecsun. This makes the Tividio an excellent portable AM FM radio. The sound quality is very good in my opinion for a radio of this size.
