This is a great alternative to a similar but much more expensive set from another brand. They are durable and well made with bright colors. However, I'm still not sure if they're made out of a single piece of wood - someone answered yes to this question in the questions section, but I'm not sure. Where the head and body meet there are some disadvantages that may be associated with the glued head or creating that area when made in one piece. Nothing that could be repaired with sandpaper. All in all we can highly recommend them. Our daughter has had them for 2 months now (she is 9.5 months old now) and she loves to smack them up, have teeth on them and hold them while we read to her (she needs to keep her hands busy or she has it not done focus on anything).
