Unsure after reading conflicting reviews about whether it will have an immobilizer chip I took the plunge and made the purchase. Well I can happily confirm that the key I received (from the discount keyless retailer) did indeed have a chip built in. Please note that in order to recognize the immobilizer chip, the vehicle must be programmed using the Techstream OBDII tool. Chip ID programming is separate from keyless programming. In other words, if your car has an immobilizer, simply program your car to the point where it recognizes the keyless transmitter so that the lock/unlock functions work, which does not mean the key will start the car (flashing red light with "SAFETY" under stereo meant my RAV4 was equipped with this feature). So if you want the chip to be recognized you can either use the Toyota Techstream software sold with the USB to OBDII cable You can buy them or have them programmed by a suitably equipped auto locksmith or dealer. But if your RAV4 doesn't have an immobilizer, no need to worry. The procedure seems to be pretty well covered by other helpful reviewers, so you can easily get your car be able to program it to recognize a keyless remote via a sequence of key and door events I have the Techstre am software and an OBDII cable to get the key to work with a 2007 RAV4 Limited. Again, programming the vehicle for 1) immobilizer chip detection and 2) remote keyless detection (lock/unlock doors) is done separately, requiring you to go to different menus in Techstream to do this. One downside is that my key actually had a non-working panic button (I confirmed this was an issue with that key as the panic function works on my factory key). This was tested as an accident about a month after purchase, otherwise I probably never would have known. I suspect I had a malfunction and the seller would be happy to fix it, but even if they sent a replacement I would have to pay another $10 for a locksmith to cut it. (So my advice would be to program and test the keyless features before cutting the key.) I don't really care, but the panic feature might be important to some. So try yours and comment if mine was just bad. Thanks very much!
