The magnets appear to be fine but I will never know as in less than a week two turned into sharp pieces. Store in the original packaging (CD case with metal strips) according to the instructions. As I carefully tried to place a large magnet on this strip of metal, it jumped out of my hand into another large magnet, causing destruction. Poorly designed packaging. The magnets had to be stored much farther apart than when shipped. The instructions state that the magnets are brittle and won't allow them to snap against each other or on a hard surface, but will cause an error by expecting them to snap back into place with the hands of a 61-year-old man with arthritis.
